I love Breakfast In America, but I’ve gone for Crime Of The Century because, well, I think for everyone, when we pick our favourite albums they tend to be rooted in moments in your life. I picked Crime… up for £1.99 at Preston Open-Air Market. I bought it and had no idea what it was like. I bought it because of the cover. It just looked like the sort of album I should have. And then when I played it…

Well ‘Crime Of The Century’ itself is a magical track. I used to love playing ‘Bloody Well Right’ as well, just to annoy my dad, ‘cos it was swearing! There is just great writing on that album – the melody, the way they used the vocal harmonies and employed a sax as well. And ‘Dreamer’! I mean, as soon as I hear that riff at the start of ‘Dreamer’ the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

It’s more of a prog album than Breakfast In America. They were suddenly making a statement. There was a confidence about the band at that time.
