4. Miles DavisIn A Silent Way

Miles Davis one of the artists we were listening to on our Caribbean ‘Harlem’ corner, he stands out. In a Silent Way itself is an important piece in my life, it gives me feelings of calm, love and inner expression in the highest possible way. The entire album was recorded in just one session on February 18, 1969, which says a lot about the creativity and the flow of the musicians involved. They are all great band leaders in their own right – Jo Zawinul, Chick Correa, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, John McLaughlin and phenomenal production by Teo Macero. Sheer Genius! It signals that if we go deep into ourselves like Miles did, you can take other musicians with you, you fuse together as if sharing the same notes, as if having the same feelings flowing in your blood stream. Of course, mere mortals are not Miles Davis but he shows how to reach unforgettable moments with the right band.
