I don’t know too much about him but to see where he started and then to see where he ended up – it’s pretty incredible. I don’t like so many artists who change so much and I don’t really care for his later stuff but his first two records are so good. They should be up there with some of the best folk – I don’t even know if it is folk. But it’s so, so beautiful. The first one is a little bit more… broken? And a bit more English? The second one, though, is more polished and his singing sounds a bit more like Paul McCartney. It’s certainly more accessible. His guitar playing is really stunning, all these beautiful melodies. It’s very pretty and it’s one of those records where I feel I can live in its space, where I feel I could do anything to it.
