Mr Fox – Join Us In Our Game

The ‘lost masterpiece’ of English folk-rock. Every track is amazing. Personal favourites are ‘The Hanged Man’, ‘Little Woman’,’The Gay Goshawk’, and ‘Mr Fox’ (a horror movie remake of ‘Reynardine’). The CD version has their second album The Gipsy as well, with my favourite version of a hymn ‘All The Good Times Are Past And Gone’ and the 12-minute magnum opus and Yorkshire geographical survey of ‘The Gypsy’. Also has some of the nastiest fuzz bass and most droning cello and violin/viola since the Velvet Underground’s ‘Sister Ray’.

Selected in other Baker’s Dozens: Lord Spikeheart, Tom Ravenscroft
