LISTEN: Toy’s ‘Dead & Gone’

One of the things we’ve really loved about Toy since they emerged a year or so ago is their mastering of the gearshift dynamic in their songcraft. Aptly for a band who have called a track ‘Motoring’, the cosmic sixpiece have a knack of suddenly dropping a track back before thundering off to some distant psychedelic horizon, like Zabriskie Point in the English Cotswolds. No more is this the case than in their track ‘Dead & Gone’, which Quietus eds John and Luke have had one repeat for weeks, and is surely one of the tracks of the year. This is now streaming via Soundcloud below, comes out on 12" vinyl with an Andrew Weatherall remix, and is available in all good record shops.
