Following up last month’s Ekstasis, Julia Holter has collaborated with psychedelic sampler Jib Kidder to produce ‘My Baby’ (via Playground). Taking Kidder’s ‘Ringtone Cowboy’ from his forthcoming Steal Guitars album as its base, it continues his “investigative combination” of country & western sounds, while adding Holter’s dreamy, Nico-like vocal. From the music box-trickle at the start to the warm waves of synth to the deftly-chosen lap steel, it’s an aural treat, complete with a suitably hazed video.
