It’s been quite a year for Oasis and pugilism, what with Noel Gallagher getting a whupping onstage in Canada. This weekend, they’re to head to Las Vegas to support their friend Ricky Hatton as he defends his IBO and Ring magazine light-welterweight titles at the MGM Grand.
Noel and Liam will carry Hatton’s belt into the ring – earlier this year, Hatton introduced his favourite band onstage during their UK tour.
Apparently Hatton had been keen to have Oasis play before his match with Paulie Malignaggi. "I’d be happy to let them put on a performance but maybe after this fight and possibly for a future fight," Hatton told The Sun. "I’m sure they would love it and I’m sure we could look at it at a future date.
"When I think of the most important things in my life, there’s my family first and Campbell my son, then I’ve got boxing, next comes Manchester City, then it’s Oasis."
