The next Lanzarote night in London will feature excellent Werk Discs producers Actress and Lukid. The pair will be DJing for a total of three hours at the Shacklewell Arms on 3rd September.
Actress’ profile has risen steadily over the last year or so – as well it should have, with the release of his dense and woozy Splazsh album and a heap of festival performances – but Lukid is still comparatively unknown. Which is a shame, as his albums combine crumbling ambience, sub-bass and hip-hip influences into a completely uncategorisable stew. And both have worked on the label’s Thriller project, which has found them deconstructing other peoples’ tracks and rebuilding them as subtle dancefloor bangers.
Expect to feel hazy, and gripped with the slightest hint of urban ennui, by the end of the night.
Lanzarote presents Actress & Lukid takes place at the Shacklewell Arms, Dalston on 3rd September, from 22:00-3:00. Tickets are £5 adv/£6.50 on the door and are currently available from Resident Advisor.
