John Cale To Curate Nico Tribute

Manics, Lanegan and Pete Murphy for commemorative Nico concert

Former Velvet Underground guitarist and Welshman John Cale is curating a one-off concert to mark the twentieth anniversary of the death of Nico.

James Dean Bradfield, Mark Lanegan and Bauhaus’ Pete Murphy are among artists who’ll appear at Life Along The Borderline, A Tribute to Nico, scheduled to take place at London’s Royal Festival Hall on October 11th.

After many years battling heroin addiction, Nico died in 1988 after a cycling accident. The Quietus heartily recommends the excellent Songs They Don’t Play On The Radio by James Young as a dark, moving and at times damn funny account of her later years.
