A new compilation from the label Mercury KX sees a number of contemporary producers honour the work of women and gender-expansive artists who have helped shaped electronic music.

The 11-track Pioneers is being released in two parts, with the first of those already out now and the second set to arrive on 17 April. The release, which is inspired by the documentary Sisters With Transistors, sees a number of female producers honour the work of a chosen artist that has influenced them.

Among those who have contributed to the compilation are Loraine James (who honours Björk), Laurel Halo (who pays tribute to Élaine Radigue), Jlin (paying homage to Eartha Kitt), Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith (who honours Clara Rockmore) and Arushi Jain (who pays tribute to Pauline Oliveros).

Listen to the first part of Pioneers – featuring tracks by Loraine James, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Arushi Jain, TAAHLIAH and more – below.

Mercury KX will release Pioneers on 17 April 2026.
