LISTEN: L. Pierre – Movement I

First track from upcoming Surface Noise EP, due in September

As we reported recently, Aidan Moffat’s been busy in his L. Pierre guise. He recently released his album The Eternalist through Vine, which you can take a look at/listen to here and he’s got his 2002 album Hypnogogia getting a re-release on September 16 via Melodic Records.

Also on that date and on Melodic, he’s releasing a new EP, Surface Noise, which "pays an affectionate tribute to the wear and tear of overplayed vinyl; the hiss, scratch and pop of records long loved but worn down. It’s the sound of survival, the echoes of a life lived well; moth eaten music of sadness and resilience, of beauty and backbone."

We’re excited to stream the EP’s first track, ‘Movement I’ (of six), a collision of tremulous shards of strings, tape hiss and distant, seismic bass rumblings, forging something that’s washed in undeniable shades of melancholia – have a listen below:

You can pre-order Surface Noise at Melodic’s website.
