Mark Stewart Gives Last LP Dub Overhaul

The Politics Of Envy reworked as Exorcism Of Envy; slated for release next month

Pop Group leader and all-round industrial titan Mark Stewart has given his last album The Politics Of Envy a dub reworking, which he’s set to release as Exorcism Of Envy on December 3 via Future Music.

The overhaul has involved a complete stripping down and re-construction of the tracks, rechristening them in the process. The end result sounds characteristically unrelenting – the text accompanying the announcement explains: "In the style of Jamaican titans like Jack Ruby, he rips out the song’s ghost to give it a fresh kicking, taking care to keep the soul alive."

Says Stewart: “I’ve got this nonchalance that nothing is sacred. I’ve deconstructed in the tradition of dub. The original dub masters experimented and for me experimentation really matters, crashing in an index of possibilities. It’s an expansion of my recent album, stripping it back to a skeletal dub and then burying it in bi-products of our hyper media.”

We’ll post a preview as soon as we can; in the meantime, have a look at the tracklisting below:

  1. ‘Babycino’
  1. ‘Sexorcist’
